National Workshop on “Geospatial Technology”

The Department had organized a National Workshop on the topic “Geospatial Technology” from 10th to 14th of February, 2020. The workshop was inaugurated by Chief Patron Dr. Tawnenga, honorable Principal, Pachhunga University College. He also delivered his speech and highlighted about Pachhunga University College in brief. Prof. Rintluanga Pachuau delivered the Keynote address. In his keynote address, he explained the details about Remote Sensing & GIS with reference to different geospatial technology and tools. He also described about the utility of geospatial technology. Dr. R. Ramthara delivered the welcoming speech to the participants and other dignities. The whole workshop was divided into ten different sessions and the resource persons delivered a series of lectures and conducted practical sessions. Mode of Workshop
· The content/syllabus of the workshop was solely based for meeting the requirement of Under Graduate and Post Graduate syllabus especially on earth sciences and life sciences (Geography, Geology, Environmental Science, Forestry, Botany and Zoology etc).
· The workshop was also designed to introduce Geoinformatics technology on teaching faculty, researcher and scientists.
· The workshop was specially designed to make used of open-source software, mainly QGIS, which is popular and user friendly in Remote Sensing and GIS domain.
· This workshop introduced different sources of spatial and non-spatial data product available in public domain (Raster or Vector Data) such as, Google Earth, DIVIA-GIS, Open Street Map (OSM), Earth Explorer and Bhuvan etc.
