Botany Research Laboratory
About the laboratory: The department started as Biology Department in 1973 and later divided into Botany and Zoology in 1975, having laboratories only for undergraduate classes since the faculty members were not taking Ph.D. students at that time. The research laboratory came into being in 2017-2018 when faculty members started guiding Ph.D. students as co-supervisors.
Thrust areas of research: The department is currently focusing on plant ecology (including documentation, sustainable management and utilization of Non-Timber Forest Products; Technology development, management and long term monitoring of Shifting Cultivation), plant and fungal diversity, stress biology, phytochemistry of secondary metabolites, Microbiology, Plant cell and tissue culture, Molecular biology and Bioinformatics
