Chemistry Research Laboratory
About the laboratory
Though the chemistry was introduced in the year 1973, the department did not have a functional research laboratory until 2017 . Currently, the department has one research laboratory and an instrumentation room with one senior research fellow and four junior research fellows working under various fields of chemistry such as synthesis, biomass waste valorisation, plastic waste recycling, photocatalytic toxic removal and heavy metal deposits due to anthropogenic activity.
Thrust area of research
Area of research in the department includes enantioselective catalysis; Heterogeneous catalysis; polymer and material chemistry; impacts of anthropogenic activity on the heavy metal deposits on roadside sediments and particulate matter; photocatalytic removal of micro-pollutants in water using TiO2 nanopillars; adsorption and surface chemistry.
Current ongoing resesrch projects with amount etc.,
Fabrication of Novel TiO2/Ag0orAu0/GO Heterojunction Nanocomposite Thin films and their Application in the Efficient Removal of Micro-Pollutants from Aqueous Solutions: Advanced Oxidation Process. DST (SERB-EEQ) Project with an amount of Rs. 31.97 Lakhs.
