About the Laboratory: Physical Sciences Research Center is an interdisciplinary research center with physics and geology as the main participating departments. It is located at the lower basement of the Physical Sciences Building. It was set up in 2018 with an initial sanction of Rs. 5 lacs by the principal from the college revenue fund.   

Thrust area of research: Condensed Matter Physics – computational and experimental, landslides, geochemistry, earthquake.

Current ongoing research projects:

1. Project Title: Designing and investigation of alkali metal decorated graphene and boron nitride (BN) nanostructure for hydrogen storage: A first-principles study, Sponsor: DST-SERB Govt. of India (File No: CRG/2018/000009), Budget: Rs. 34.91 lakhs/-.
2. SERB – DST Project titled, “First-principles investigation of piezoelectric and half-metallic magnetism in wide band gap II-VI compounds for spintronic and other applications”, total amount Rs. 4009000/-
