Aizawl Science Conclave 2016 organized at PUC

Dated 13th February 2016:  Pachhunga University College organized Science Conclave 2016 at College Auditorium in Commemoration of 30 Glorious years of Department of Biotechnology, Government of India. Mr. _, Minister Finance, Planning etc. Government of MIzoram Graced the function as a chief guest.   Dr. Tawnega, Principal chaired the Inaugural session and welcomed all the participants. Dr. H Lal_, Coordinator  report the details of the programme, its initiation and highlight the contribution of Department of Biotechnology for the College. The College have Institutional biotechnology Hub, Two DBT TWinning PRogramme and STAR College Scheme. He thanked DBT for supporting the college with a total of around  2 crores in project and infrastructure. The Chief Guest thanked the college for organizing such important function. He mention the recent growth of Biotechnology in India and the need for the growth of Biotechnology in Mizoram. He mention about the simple things that layman cannot understand without science. Science governs our lives and from the moment we wake up we use scientific formulation like toothpaste. He also mentioned about the greatness of man's discovery and the potential f discovery. He concluded his speech by citing 4 words "How Great thou Art" citing the greatness of God in his creation. The first technical session is chaired by Dr Shivraj Gurung, Head department of Physics.  He  invited  Dr. RK Lallianthanga, Chief Scientific officer Department of Science and Technology Government of Mizoram. He deliver a speech on "Modern Trends in Sciences" with Powerpoint Presentation. Session II- The chief guest, dignitaries, judges, faculties and students visit Scientific model and poster presentation by students and young research scholars. The winners of Scientific Model Making(4th Sem): 1. Botany,  2. Environmental Science 3. Zoology The third session- Quiz competition and Drama Competition is chaired by Dr. K Lalchhandama, Head department of Zoology. He conducted quiz competition among 2nd Semester students. The winners are 1. Chemistry, Zoology, Botany and Biotechnology. 2. Geology & Statistics. 3. Physics and Mathematics. The last session- Scientific drama competition was succesfully held. THe winners of Scientific Drama for 6th Sem students are:  1. Zoology, 2. Botany 3. Mathematics.  Dr. HS Thapa Proposed the vote of thanks.
