DBT-BUILDER National Laboratory
The DBT-BUILDER National Laboratory is established by the Department of Biotechnology, Government of India, through the scheme “DBT-Boost to University Interdisciplinary Life Science Departments for Education and Research (DBT-BUILDER)”. The Department of Life Sciences was one of the first recipients of the DBT-BUILDER when DBT introduced the scheme in 2021.

Objectives
1. To give trainings to life science students, researchers and teachers
2. To conduct biodiversity research in Mizoram
3. To provide laboratory instruments for life science students
4. To establish a research centre
5. To facilitate teachers and scholars for research projects
Major thrust areas
1. Molecular taxonomy and biodiversity research
2. Drug development – screening of natural products for antimicrobial and antiparasitic activities
3. Medical microbiology – antimicrobial resistance and antimicrobial sourcing
