Free Medical Clinic at Pachhunga University College
A free medical clinic was held on the 30th October 2024, at Pachhunga University College (PUC), a premier institution in northeast India. The clinic was organised through a collaboration involving Lenrualhlui, an alumni association, the Regional Institute of Paramedical and Nursing Sciences (RIPANS), and PUC’s Health Care Committee.
RIPANS staff and medical professionals from Lenrualhlui conducted health check-ups for students, staff, and pensioners of the college. Dr. Esther Laltlankimi, the secretary of the Health Care Committee, reported that "the health conditions and complaints of around 600 people were examined" and noted that on-the-spot tests were performed as needed. Dr. Laltlankimi added that the clinic was well-received and appreciated by all attendees.
The event began with an inauguration ceremony. Professor H. Lalthanzara, PUC’s principal, emphasised the college’s commitment to the holistic health of its students, including both physical and mental well-being. He announced that a clinical psychologist is now available at the college to address students' psychiatric needs. Additionally, he shared that first aid kits have been provided to every academic department to handle medical emergencies promptly.
Professor Lalfamkimi, principal of RIPANS, also spoke at the event, highlighting that the free clinic aligns with RIPANS' outreach efforts to serve the community. She mentioned the diverse backgrounds of their students, including those from as far as Jammu and Kashmir, and noted that their graduates work across India and internationally, often excelling in their fields.
The function was chaired by Lenrualhlui chairman Lalbiakthanga Khiangte, IPS (IGP, Hqrs.) Mizoram, where cultural performances by students from various states were also showcased.
Lenrualhlui is the association of the 1979-1983 batch of PU (Science) students, many of whom have gone on to lead successful lives. The alumni group actively contributes to the development of the college.
