“The global economic backdrop continues to remain challenging. New flashpoints in different parts of the world could potentially disrupt supply chains and flare up global energy commodity prices. Inflation has declined but remains above target in major economies. The last mile of disinflation may prove to be challenging keeping interest higher for longer. Domestically in india, while there has been much progress with inflation, espicially core, trending down, repeated and overlapping food price shocks remain a conceen for the inflation outlook. Growth has fared better than expected in the back of domestic demand and structural drivers. The MPC has kept the policy rate unchanged since April 2023 after having raised ut by a cumulative 259 basis points while maintaining a stance focused on withdrawal of accomodation. In this context, what do you suggest for policy in terms of 1. Rate action, 2. Stance and 3. Any other communication that you deem necessary at this stage?”
