Research Topic: Regulation of immune function in Indian goat – Capra hircus: An in vitro study
Subjects taught in Undergraduate classes: Invertebrate and vertebrate biology, Ecology, Cell Biology and developmental Biology and associated practicals
Subjects taught in Post graduate classes: Hormones and some topics of cell communication, Biomolecules and Structural Biology as assigned from time to time
Skills and expertise: Well versed with Cell Culture, Cell Viability, Cell Proliferation, Cell Isolation, Immunohistochemistry, Immunocytochemistry, Antibody Staining, Western Blot Analysis, Densitometry analysis, SDS-PAGE, RNA Isolation, RT-PCR, Apoptosis, PBMC Isolation, RIA, ELISA, Blood Collection from rodent and caprine animal model, Efficient in animal handling and analysis of the animal behavior
Computer Skill: MS Word, word perfect, MS-Excel, Power Point, Adobe Photoshop, HTML, SPSS software, Coral and others related software
Research Interest: We are currently involved in looking the effect of cyanobacterial compounds on oxidative stress and decoding the role of GR receptors. The infamous debut of oxidative stress leads to the pathogenicity of several diseases such as diabetes, cardiac disease, hypertension, inflammation, atherosclerosis cancer, the onset of neurodegenerative diseases, such as Parkinson’s disease, Alzheimer’s diseases and accelerated ageing. We believe that the effect of oxidative stress can be ameliorated by the compounds present in the plant world. Apart from oxidative stress biology, I am also keen to see the effect of ante-mortem stress on meat quality of goat and sheep particularly the physiochemical and biochemical properties of meat along with nutritional change which have been ignored in Indian meat industry.
