Pachhunga University College (PUC) celebrated Diamond Jubilee foundation day at College Multipurpose Auditorium on 17th August 2018 (Friday). The College 60th Anniversary foundation day celebration function was held in two sessions. The first session was begin began with an opening song by Ms.Lalduhsaki V Sem B.A (Mizo) feat Evangelical Union Choir. Dr. Tawnenga, Principal delivered welcome speech. Revd.Chuauthuama, an alumnus rendered 'Thanks giving prayer'. Mr.J.Malsawma, who is now only surviving first teacher in the college and first batch students (1958) are being felicitated. The surviving offsprings of Mr.Pachhunga (L) and Mr. H.K Bawichhuaka are also felicitated in this gathering.
On this function Prof. K.R.S Sambasiva Rao, Vice Chancellor, Mizoram University (MZU) also delivered congratulatory speech. In his speech he proudly mentioned PUC as one the best higher educational institutions in North East India. His speech was followed by Felicitation of retired Principals, Teachers and Non-Teaching staffs. Mr.Lallungmuana, Head, Department of Sociology led Re-dedication programme and he was joined by all the teachers, staffs and students with Diamond Jubilee pledge. To commemorate the Diamond Jubilee College foundation day the college offered charity fund to five Children’s Homes within Aizawl city. The charity fund was contributed by Teachers, Non-Teaching staffs and students. The first session programme was amused with cultural programme from Chhawkhlei Cultural Club and special items from Mr. V.L Hmangaihdawngkima (Kimkima) I Sem B.Sc (Zoology).
The second session of the celebration function was conducted in the afternoon with a variety programme. Special items from various artistes in the college and alumni were held. The students also showed ‘A Glimpse of 60 Years of PUC’ with an insightful choreography. The two alumnus bands – Chhota Bheem and Dreamhunters presented live performance till the end of the function. The day was concluded with a community feast.
